Breaking Through the Clouds: Kabbalah, Love and the Ultimate Relationship tells the story of Levi’s 25-year spiritual journey, highlighting his study and life with a master Kabbalist (one twist to the story is their marriage in 2001). In it the mysteries of Kabbalah’s Tree of Life are brought down to earth in easily understandable language. It reveals how the Tree can be a guide for all spiritual seekers who yearn to break free of the blocks hampering their growth. His story also shows how it is possible to find unity among the great spiritual traditions of the world, taking the best from each while staying true to one’s primary tradition.

Unlike other books on Kabbalah Breaking Through the Clouds is not theoretical or filled with esoteric meditations. It shares the teachings of Hadassah Ben-Yishai (now Matananda Ben-Shmuel), a remarkably gifted Kabbalist he began working with in Jerusalem in 1996. Hadassah’s emphasis was always on making God’s love a living part of her students’ lives. Her passion to share the divine romance she lived was alluring and accessible because of the clarity and simplicity of her teachings.

From an early age Levi knew that there was more to life than what he saw around him. He was determined to find out what that something was. Levi had learned much from many teachers from the East and the West, yet it was not until Hadassah that he met the teacher who had the spiritual abilities to know him to the core, and lead him to know what had been elusive his entire life: his own center and life purpose.

Themes of commitment, perseverance, and faith interweave with accounts of treks to monasteries in Tibet, ashrams of saints in India, and a Pentecostal minister in Jerusalem. There are questions at the end of each chapter to take readers deeper within themselves to understand what is in the way of the spiritual life they want. There is also a set of guided visualizations/prayers at the end of the book to help lead them to a deeper relationship with God.
