Are you tired? I am. I’m tired of the way politics is practiced in Washington. I’m tired of Wall St. fat cats making obscene amounts of money while regular people lose their homes and health insurance. I’m tired of paying for wars, especially at the expense of providing great education and other social services to all Americans. And, I’m tired of raising celebrities up on pedestals and watching them crash down.
Usually when you get tired, you go to sleep. That is an appealing option in the face of the long list of challenges we face. But it is not time for sleep; it is time for action.
Instead of zoning out and retreating into our own little worlds, we need to do the opposite. We need to muster all the passion and energy we can to manifest our deepest vision of what this world can be.
What is your vision for making this world a better place? It can be something grand like ending world hunger or something small like creating a community garden. Whatever the vision is, what matters is taking action to create it.
We have so much power. If you think about it, there are many examples of one person doing incredible world-changing work. Imagine what we can create if we claim our power and work together. There is no need to despair; we are the answer we have been waiting for.
How would you harness this power we have to bring about change?
Good question! There are as many ways to do harness our power as one can imagine. One good place to get ideas is the book How to Achieve a Heaven on Earth. It is a collection of 101 essays from leading thinkers on how to bring positive change to our world. Note: I am a contributor to the book.
